D&T Job in the Kimberley

I'm going on 12 month's leave in 2027 so East Kimberely College has a 12 month, fixed term D&T position live now. This is a great job, the students are fantastic, the workshops are well equiped and you get to enjoy the best of the Kimberley!

AITSL review of the Teacher Standards

TO PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS

Dear All,

As a reminder or for those who had not previously been aware ...

The Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) is conducting the first formal review of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers since they were adopted 15 years ago. The review runs from May 2026 to February 2027, with an open initial online survey closing on August 7, 2026.

Review Purpose and Timeline

  • Goal:                    Check if the standards match modern, evidence-based teaching practices and remain useful.

Late last term, Piers Forder and I attended the DATTA Queensland Conference in Brisbane. The two-day event provided an excellent opportunity to participate in a range of valuable presentations, explore current developments in Design and Technology education, and network with teachers from across Australia.


One of the highlights of the conference was meeting with the Presidents and Executive teams from each state's DATTA Association (or equivalent). These discussions provided a valuable opportunity to share ideas, discuss common challenges, and strengthen collaboration across the country.


As part of the conference, the Presidents also participated in a panel discussion exploring key issues and future directions for Design and Technology education across Australia.
